  1. 1 Wood

Marble Maestro is presently working at 1 Wood, a residence complex with impressive and extensive marble and granite floors.

The floors are in dire need of restoring, and as the picture below shows, they have very little life and shine in them.

When we're done, I'll post the "after" shot for you!

  1. Statue Of David

I was asked recently if there had ever been a time when my motivation for what I do had received a big boost. Or if I had ever had a change of perspective that affected my view of marble work.

Like a lightening bolt! In the 1990's I took a trip to Cassino in Italy, to find my roots, and to spend time with some of the masters of Marble restoration and stone work. I have several photos from this trip here in the "About" section of the website.

Well, during my stay in Italy, I visited Florence, and saw the statue of David, sculpted by Michelangelo from 1501 to 1504. Up till this time there had been jobs of mine which I had viewed as hard, both physically and technically.

When I stood in front of the statue, I recognized and beheld a beauty and perfection and knowledge of marble like none other. This changed my perspective of my own work, and I experienced a huge mental shift. From that time on, any and all of my work with marble would take on a new feeling of ease! Nothing I could do would ever seem that hard again, compared to the mastery of marble that I at that moment stood gazing in front of.

  1. New Product Labels

Marble Maestro has had a heavy work schedule this last month, with new jobs coming in every week! I'll take that as a good sign! Very satisfied clients referring us new clients has been a large part of our growth, and things are going really good.

In addition to this regular work load, we've been looking at a line of products, like our Finishing Cream, and designing labels for these. Keeping a uniform image of quality and brand recognition, Marble Maestro is taking our service, and products related to this, to a new level of professionalism.

Keep a look out for our new floor signs coming soon!

  1. Stone Shaping Technology

I recently came across the website of Breton, the Italian masters of high-tech stone working and crafting.

Breton have an impressive line of programmable stone lathes and saws for milling and turning marble, granite and stone.

Take a look at these links, with photos and video, to see their machinery in action. Very impressive!

  1. In the quarries, where it all begins

I'm infinitely fascinated by all things marble.

So it's not surprising that I find information and visuals on the origin of marble compelling entertainment!

Anyway, there are numerous online videos on marble and stone, but some of the raw and very engaging ones are from the quarries, where it all begins.

Like this one. This is out-take footage from Gina Minervini's incredible docustory THROUGH THE EYES OF THE SCULPTOR. A 300 ton piece of marble is carefully pushed and dropped off inside the marble quarries of Pietrasanta, Italy.
